First few pics with my EOS 450D
July 27, 2008 by Sandeep R
I haven’t got much time to explore my new camera, but here are two good images from first few images i’ve taken.
Rose bud, taken on Saturday evening:

Rose bud, EOS 450D 18-55mm IS @ 43mm F9 1/125s ISO200 cropped
Same rose, the next day, afternoon:
The pics were taken at my house, but haven’t found many interesting subjects much around here. Have been little busy on the weekend until now. :D
I’m still learning to use the camera and hope to click better images to showcase. Comments on the snaps are welcome.

notice the slight web around the rose in the first pic ?wow
Wow!!! what clarity! Nice watermark too. Waiting for more snaps.
A simple dark background should have helped make this rose stand out in his photo. (snap2)
My tip for close up clicks – Note down readings of aperture every time
Costly tip: buy an external hard drive, u will soon run out of memory in ur computer!!!

Nice pics… Try clicking with 50mm lens. You will get a great bokeh :)
@Manasa
Ya, i realized 50mm f/1.8 would have been a cheaper and better lens.. but 18-55mm kit lens comes with IS.. this is also very useful..
I’m thinking about a macro lens.. 50mm compact macro or 100mm true macro? I know the answer is pretty obvious but the price is prohibitive. :)
The first photo is really good !!

Hi Sandeep… Must say great snaps with your 450D.. Quite impressed with the results. I have also being facing the same dilemma about DSLR camera selection. In fact, I have also finally zeroed in on the 450D for myself. you mentioned about getting a good deal from Pixetra. I would be highly obliged you if you could send me their contact details and an indicative price for the camera at which you bought it from them. Thanks….
@Rahul
Yes, will mail you the details.
Those were with the kit lens? Wow, I guess it’s better than the elitists would have us believe.
Also, external hard drives aren’t as expensive as they used to be. At least where I’m from (Scotland), an external hard drive costs less than the Canon kit lens. However for something as important as treasured photos, you should really have more than one copy. So for example you could have an external hard drive, and also a copy burned to DVD; alternatively you could have two external hard drives. The reason for this is that all hard drives will eventually fail – and external ones are more likely to.
@David Russell
Yes, shots are from 18-55mm IS kit lens.
I agree with you on archiving photos.
WOW!!! what a picture.!! i really loved it..
