Lalbagh botanical garden of royal origin was my weekend photography stop. Lalbagh probably has the most diversified collection of trees and plants of any botanical garden in the world. The huge botanical garden, spread over 240 acres, in the heart of the city has over 1800 species of flora. A lake inside the garden attracts a variety of birds like kingfishers, barbets, cormorants, bee-eaters, and robins. Squirrels, mynas and other insects amongst bees are a common sight.
The 4th national flower show at Lalbagh botanical garden in Bangalore started on 9th August, and will go on till 17th August. Biannual flower show is organized every year for a fortnight, once during Republic Day and another during Independence Day. Flower show at Lalbagh is one of the most splendid and sought after events in Bangalore during this season. I happened to visit the flower show on Sunday afternoon. The main attraction in the garden is the ‘glass house’, where the best of the flowers are hosted. it’s a riot of colors there. In the jostling crowd i managed to click a few decent pictures.
I’ve just included a couple of photos, will upload few more here or on flickr and provide link here.
The hyped Hampi chariot made of roses was not all that great. Click here for image of Hampi rose chariot. The crowd was inexplicable, the image below gives out some part of that.
The show is open to public on all days from 8:00am to 7:30pm. The botanical garden is open throughout the year from 6:00am to 7:00pm. Check this website for more info: http://www.lalbagh.org/
P.S: The image below is for those who think the focus on the first image is not good.

I find your photography to be simply amazing! If I knew you were so good at photography I’d have given you a better discount for the cam when you had come.
@Nikhil
Nikon, Canon all are just same.. A friend has Olympus DSLR, he takes great shots.. So does Mitsuaki Iwago :D
@Jayesh

@Nova

@Priya
Thanks pri.. your comments always appreciated ;)
@San – Things people do for a new camera apart from flaunting that is! Dude, flower show??!! :P
Kiddin buds – the 1st pic rocks! I noticed the change in the copyright thgy too! Damn someones getting better :)
Theres something wrong with your cam dude.. the focus for all the snaps on your blog seem weird. I had the same problem with my eos 400 and I had to get it exchanged. You can confirm this by taking the same snaps with a normal digital cam and comparing them. If you feel the photos from the slr suck compared to the digital cam, then better get it replaced.
Nihal
@RJ
Thanks man.. hope to keep improving :)
@Nihal
Are you talking about the focus on the pinkish white flower?
The focus there was on nearer petals, not on the yellow inner part so obviously it has come out blurred.
The lens is not a macro, so the stamens haven’t come out sharp.
If there is anything else you notice, do tell me how to test.
I’ve uploaded another pic of the pinkish white flower, with ‘better focus’, tell me if there is any problem with that.
And hands down, i’m very much impressed with the DSLR in getting better bokeh compared to digicam. There’s no chance that any digicam will get the bokeh this way.
Really like the one with the rows of flowers and people. Nice expressions since they were taken w/o them noticing.
You should get a flickr account and use an app to display pics on your blog. Something like my friend does here-

@Deepu

Feel happy watching sweet pics..First one is the best..2nd too has lot of positive energy
Glad you liked my shots.
Great snaps Sandeep. I went to LalBagh a week back and the package was so charming I’m thinking of going back again. The Lake and the walk in its periphery; the birds – resting, flying, chirping, swimming and drying; the joggers, the flowers all made the experience worth replicating.
