Hey!
Updated about me (12/10/2013)
Originally from Bangalore, currently live in Los Angeles and work as a business consultant. I have previously worked at big technology companies and have a natural inclination towards tech. I enjoy traveling the world and experience the wildlife and natural world. Focus on wildlife photography has been a priority on many of my travels and it would continue to be.
All the species are photographed in the wild, unless specified, and care has been taken not to disturb the subject as much as possible.
I have used a variety of gear for photographing. My primary workhorse has been Canon 100-400mm IS USM lens. I’ve also used Canon 500mm f/4, 1.4xTC, 2x TC, 100mm f/2.8 Macro lens Nikkor lenses and Nikon bodies, Joby Gorrilla pods, and many other gears.

Updated about me (8/25/2011)
I am an MBA student at USC Marshall School of Business. I have moved from Bangalore, where I spent more than a quarter century, to Los Angeles.
– blog version 2.0 –
I am an engineer by profession. My work involves audio/video multimedia software design and development. Apart from this, i’ve very varied interests: From horse-riding to foreign languages, cooking to clicking (photography), and technology to trekking.
Wildlife Photography has taken over as my biggest passion of late and most of the posts are from this genre.
– blog version 1.0 –
Here is a writing, not just for the heck of it. An attempt to put down thoughts in a wordy way, avoiding being prolix. A conscience attempt, by will. The posts are varied in topics, including but not limited to physics, maths, economics, English, philosophy, business, cartoons, psychology, civics, technology, adventures, emotions.. all coalesced by my nonpareil thoughts!
Hope you like my writing. Comments on the blog are very much welcome. By the way, the dude leading in the race is me. Thanks.

Hey, How does one become a web2.0 entrepreneur ? :-O
It sounds like a really cool thing to do in life ! Seriously.
Cool thing to do huh? :)
Learn some basics about building a website..
there’s no end to what you can do in building a site..
try out simple html.. then may be javascripts, ruby on rails etc
but i’d not like to see someone interested in dissecting a frog trying a hand in web2.0, unless just for kicks :)
Hehehe…for kicks only…
I’ve actually learnt JAVA for 2 years!!
I love HTML too…actually learnt it when I was at blogger before…for templates and stuff. Was fun!
I used to sit hours together changing some html codes to get what I wanted for my blogger blog !!
I’ll still love dissecting toads and leeches …
*ahem* maybe even human beings in the future ;)
that’s good to hear..
hope you don’t have intentions of killing them to dissect :P

Hi Sandeep
First time here and like the site. Like the quotes and pictures.
I compliment you on such amazing collection of wildlife photography. great keep up the good work.
I entered a contest and which says it can only get a vote per person, yet when I vote from my Laptop and want to vote from my desktop it says I have already voted. Several Of my friends have told me that they voted at their school and only 1 of them could vote and on the rest of the computers it said, you have already voted! Even though they hadn’t. Does this mean they are tracking the static ip of the ISP?
Nice tiger pics. What camera &lenses do you use?
nice very nice…
HI
I just wanted to share with you an important announcement, but couldn’t find your email address on this blog. Could you please reach out to me at aditi.gupta@text100.co.in

Hey Sandeep,
This is my first visit to you blog…loved your wildlife photos. Came to your blog searching for birding lenses for cannon. Your 100-400 seems to be doing a good job. I currently own a 70-300 but am beginning to notice its limitations.
I am new to photography (about a year now) and to bird watching as well. Haven’t uploaded most of my photos yet but you can find some at http://www.biplabdeka.net
Regards,
Biplab.

Sandeep,
I stumbled upon your website while planning our trip to India (leaving in 19 days) and researching Ranganathittu bird sanctuary. Your photographs are very impressive, and I really appreciated the species identification and the narration of each trip.
We’ll be in Bandipur National Park for 2 days, then spend a morning at Ranganathittu. I’d really appreciate any suggestions about specific locations or species to look for–particularly since you seem to have a good idea of what’s common in the season.
I hope I’ve got the opportunity to see some of the beautiful animals that I’ve seen in your photos, and the ‘sense of the moment’ to get such good shots.
Thanks,
Mark
Have sent you a mail on the id you left for this comment.

hi sandeep….how should i start my career as an wildlife photographer…show me the path..the 1st step 4 me..plz.
Hi abhishek,
You can start learning about wildlife.. perhaps with bird watching first. There are many good field guides such as birds of india by Salim Ali. Then, Birds of Indian subcontinent by Grimmett and Inskipp. Once you get a fair idea about wildlife, then you can pick any camera and start shooting.
Dude, your blog is beautiful. Each and every picture is mind blowing. Love it even more because I love wild life :)
Thanks for the visual treat!
Hey are u the sandeep R from MIT batch of 2004 comp sc??

Dear Sandeep,
I am a birding enthusiast and I was referred to your blog by a friend of mine. Needless to say, I was blown away by your pictures. I am buying my first DSLR soon and the first thing I checked was your blog. What surprised me even more that your camera body is an entry-level one and that is encouraging for people like me.
In that light I just wanted your views on the differences between the Canon EOS 450D and the 500D, and which one you think it would be worth buying.
Thanks,
Bhargav
Thanks Bhargav.
500D is better off given higher ISO range, video capability, and 9 RAW image buffer space. Also, invest on a good lens.
Thank you so much for your reply! I am getting the 500D and 55-250mm IS to start with. It should keep me going for some time hopefully.
Hi Sandeep,
You got a great blog and the pictures are awesome. Enjoyed reading your posts on Wild life. I tried to trace your e-mail and luckily got it through flickr. :)
However, I was looking for some underprivileged schools which is out of reach of NGO’s or from donations with very poor children. I came across your blog and wanted to get more info about the schools around HD kote or any tribal schools nearby. Here in Bangalore lot of people donate to the schools, but all find the same schools and almost all schools here will be covered by the corporates. I wanted to help those schools which are deprived from all these donations. It would be of great help, if you could provide me with the information on this school.
Sorry to bother you. Thanks in advance.

Seema

WWF India – Cities for Forests
Hope you’re doing well.
WWF India recently launched the Cities for Forests Campaign.
The Cities for Forests campaign focuses on raising awareness about the intrinsic link between forests and human well-being, with a primary focus on changing perception of youth all over the country. It encourages individuals to discover, visit, and document the forests that support their cities in innumerable ways, and share their findings on http://www.citiesforforests.in, an interactive platform to upload stories, pictures, presentations, and videos about individual observations of the city’s forests and green spaces.
Here’s some more info from the site: http://www.citiesforforests.in/Cities_for_Forests.php?tab=Participate
As part of the campaign, you can also take up other activities that benefit the environment and forests, and tell us about it. Here are some ideas to get you started:
You can select open green spaces in your neighbourhood. Understand the challenges being posed to such depleting natural environments and present a strategy for their conservation. You can also go a step further and restore such areas as a long term project.
Take on the task of cataloguing the landmark trees in your city, those that have a special significance to people. Find out the oldest tree, or the biggest, or one which has the most historical, religious or cultural significance. Seek information and research on its background, and upload the pictures and report on wwf.citiesforforests.in Tag your tree and help develop a fascinating record of the trees of India
WWF-India will organize events in your city during the Wildlife Week, inviting key decision makers, local politicians, environment journalists, and present some of the best findings, urging them to take action to protect your city’s forests and shift towards good environmental governance.
We’d really appreciate it if you can support if you could submit your ideas/stories/photos and videos with us on
http://www.citiesforforests.in/upload.php.
Thanks,
Sonali

How can I get in touch with you for blog collaboration.
Unquestionably imagine that that you stated. Your favourite
reason seemed to be on the web the simplest
thing to be aware of. I say to you, I certainly get irked at the same time as other folks think about concerns that they just do not understand about.
You controlled to hit the nail upon the highest and also defined out the
entire thing without having side-effects , other folks can
take a signal. Will probably be again to get more.
Thanks
